What was North America like nearly 300 years ago? How do we know? The first natural history of North America was published in 1731 by Mark Catesby. Since that time there has been a steady stream of works on that subject, an attempt to identify what new and amazing life was here. Come to the Lloyd Library and Museum to see these early works and find out what the Ohio Valley and other parts of North America were really like in the days before it was settled by European immigrants. Rare and fascinating books will be on display, plus the art exhibition
